Back in the Court

Hello Volleyball Season! I'm so happy to be back and training again. I do admit it's hard for me to work out alone especially when I'm used to training with a team. During our off season, it took me a couple of weeks before I started working out again. I kept on making up excuses! But I know that shouldn't be the case…being a semi-professional volleyball player I need to continually improve my game and stay in shape.

So I made a plan. I decided to focus on conditioning and strength training. Well, these are the usual off season focus of training only this time I'm doing it on my own. Yes, training alone can be a bummer!!  That's why I'm so happy that there's volleyball training again. I love  having a regular training schedule, training in court, having a training program and of course seeing my coaches and teammates again. In our first day of training I got so excited and arrived in the gym 1 hour early. That's how excited I was to be back and train again!

Football Weekend

Watching weekend games have always  been my favourite weekend activity. I really like the casual vibe of watching games. The familiar sounds of the beating drums, cheering crowd, and intense plays.

Last weekend, my family went to Ateneo to support the UP women's football team.  I got excited when I found out the game was going to be in the track oval field of Ateneo. I love the Ateneo blue track oval that surrounds the green field.  Before the game, we went to UP town to grab a quick take-out at Triple O's.

It was my first time to try Triple O's and their burgers and fries turned perfect match to a nice Sunday soccer game. As we arrived in the field, we were able to find a perfect spot with a little shade and a nice view of the game.

Cheering for UP wasn't weird for me since my older sister also played for UP women's basketball team. I even know some of their cheers! "UP FIGHT" It was intense game as UST scored an early goal! We were like "oh no!" But the UP girls were aggressive and scored 2 goals.  Pretty intense right? In the end the UP girls were able to snatch victory from the UST team with a 3 to 1 end score.

Fille Came to Play…Golf

Golf is one of the sports that I never thought that I would try. Aside from the cute golf outfits, I never imagined myself actually playing it. Last week we went to a driving range to play golf. At first, I was just there to eat and watch the guys play. So there I was chillin' and drinking my fresh coconut juice. But then my husband said "you wanna try?". I was really scared to try it because I could picture myself taking a swing and losing grip of the golf club. I kept on repeating to the guys to stay away in case the golf club came flying at them. It would be a disaster if ever that happened. But I still took a swing at it
.

I learned the basics first, the right stance, proper head position and the simple swing. As an athlete, I guess I found it easy to get into position. Then, my first swing, I missed. Hahaha! After a couple of missed swings I finally was able to hit the ball. I was so happy when I finally hit the ball right. Yey!

The next thing I learned was having a proper backswing. I must admit it really works out your entire back muscles when you do a complete swing…sadly in this video I totally missed  :0

Totally missed it! ahahaha!

You don't need to be an expert to enjoy a new sport! heck, you don't even have to know too much about it :D so long as you got someone to teach and guide you through it … its still loads of fun!

I honestly want to go back and try again! Lino wants me to learn from a pro though! Where's a good place to learn golf ?

Birthday Baguio Weekend

We decided to spend my 25th birthday in Baguio. Yes, welcome quarter life crisis! (haha)  But looking back at my 25 years  I cannot be more thankful and blessed. I remember Gretchen asked me what was my birthday wish... I couldn't think of anything but a happiness and health for all those i care about. especially for our little angel Ino.

Memorable salubong as they sang to me while we are gathered around the campfire.

Our Baguio trip wouldn't be as much fun without these people.  It really made my birthday celebration more special!

Probably one of the reasons why I enjoyed our Baguio trip was because of the chill vibe.  We stayed in a cottage house and just lounge around in our sweat pants and hoodies.

Looks like Ino and Tasha have a special connection! hahaha

THANK YOU!

TRIVIA: My family lived in Baguio for 2 years. But I was just 2 years old then and all of my memories of Baguio were a blur.

I'm Back

 I'M BACK!

After many months I'm back!
HELLO!

Finally decided to start blogging again. It took me a couple of weeks to get this blog going. My last blog post was way back in 2013 about our jersey auction for #volleyballcommunitygivesback (which was  total success - thanks to all of  you who helped out!).

Seeing and reading my blog again after so long made me think what kind of blog I'd want to write once I start blogging again...Would this be a fashion blog, food blog, sports blog or maybe a travel blog?

Aside from content, there was the design element!

I really had a hard time redesigning my blog which was one of the reasons why it took me so long to start posting again. hihi. It was overwhelming for me because looking at other blogs… so many out there looked so good!

Long story short, I finally decided to go with a clean and simple design. I kept the original title "Fille Came to Play" since it suits my playful attitude and I decided to write about EVERYTHING I care about.

Fille Came to Play is here to stay and it's a Journal to Fille the World
